Funding available for climate resilience projects

Community organisations in the Far North can now apply for funding for projects that help build resilience against climate change.

The Climate Resilient Communities Fund, run by Northland Regional Council, supports projects that help the region’s most affected communities withstand the effects of the changing climate, offering between $5000 and $40,000.

Funding is available for projects that build regional resilience initiatives, those that raise awareness of the challenges faced by communities, and projects that strengthen local connections. It also supports programmes that drive transformational change for community and tāngata whenua climate resilience, and projects that focus on four priority areas – food resilience, water resilience, energy resilience, and nature-based resilience.

Applications are welcome from community groups, tāngata whenua, social enterprises and not-for-profit businesses, and education providers. Organisations must be based in Te Taitokerau and the proposed project must be implemented within Northland.

Applications are open now until 29 October 2024. Head here to apply and find out more information.
