Movie night finale for Te Wiki o te Māori

A movie night organised by the Te Kotahitanga e Mahi Kaha Trust as part of Te Wiki o Te Reo 2024 takes place this weekend.

The trust was granted $3000 at last month’s Kaikohe-Hokianga Community Board meeting for the event which will be the grand finale of its campaign for greater use of te reo Māori.

Te Pū ō Te Wheke, Movie in the Park will be held at Memorial Park on Saturday 21 September starting at 3pm. The event will feature a screening of Disney’s Coco Reo Māori at 6pm, preceded by food stalls, activities, and entertainment. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, bean bags, or chairs for a comfortable experience.

This event was chosen based on community feedback, with a movie night being the second most popular choice after the successful Matariki celebration earlier this year.
