VIDEO - Long vehicles get dedicated space at Mangōnui

Mangōnui just got a bit bigger with the completion of a dedicated long-vehicle parking platform over the water next to the main wharf.
Constructed as part of the Mangōnui redevelopment project, the heavy-duty concrete structure can now accommodate up to seven tourist buses and commercial fishing lorries to take long-vehicle parking off the main wharf and free up parking space for smaller vehicles along the road through town.
The $2.79m building cost factored in construction techniques and processes to ensure minimum disturbance to the delicate marine environment and surrounding coastal ecosystems.
The new structure also includes a ramp for smaller boats to launch from, and dinghy storage for boaties and fishers.
