Reserve Management Plan Renewal for Simson Park Domain

About this consultation

We are proposing to review the existing reserve management plan for Simson Park Domain in Moerewa and are calling for community feedback on the park’s future development and use. This is in accordance with section 41 of the Reserves Act 1977.

Simson Park is a vital community hub in Moerewa, providing space for sports, recreational activities, and community events. Recent feedback, supported by Healthy Families Far North and the creation of Te Rōpu Rangatahi o Simson Park, has highlighted several areas for potential improvement, including infrastructure upgrades, enhanced sports facilities, and creating more child-friendly spaces.

If you want to find out more about the feedback received, please check the Questions and Answers section below and come along to our drop-in session on Saturday, 22 June from 11am to 3pm at the Simson Park Community Hall.

This consultation seeks to build on this feedback and develop a comprehensive plan for the park's future.

Questions and Answers

Te Rōpu Rangatahi o Simson Park is a rangatahi group, established with support from Healthy Families Far North. This group represents a new level of early engagement with our youth, focusing on how we might involve whānau and the wider community in planning for the future of Simson Park. Our rangatahi were empowered to take the lead in designing locally driven solutions, effectively returning the process of community engagement to the hands of the community itself.
