America's Cup FanZones
Jump on board Te Waka and share the fun at an America’s Cup FanZone!
The America’s Cup races start on 6 March 2021 and will take place until the first team wins nine races. The Far North District was asked if we wanted to host an official America’s Cup FanZones in March 2021. We thought this was a great opportunity for communities to get behind Emirates Team New Zealand!
Eight communities and organisations applied to host official FanZones and we are pleased to announce that all applications were successful.
Racing is estimated to take place between 4pm and 6pm each race day, and the first 10 races (2 per day) will take place on Wednesday 10 March, Friday 12 March, Saturday 13 March, Sunday 14 March and Monday 15 March 2021.

Keep an eye on this page for updates as we share what our official FanZones have planned for the races!
While Council and the America’s Cup Events team is unable to provide funding for FanZones, we may be able to assist through partnership with sourcing audio visual gear, temporary licencing of premises and traffic management plans for the FanZone events. We are also happy to help host communities with funding applications.
Council accepted self-nominations from communities and groups wanting to host FanZones in the Far North District in mid-2020.
These nominations were sent to America’s Cup Events who will made the final decision of host venues with Emirate Team New Zealand as host team and sponsors of the America’s Cup 2021.
There is nothing to stop you hosting America’s Cup viewing parties in a private capacity. Council is not able offer assistance or resources for private viewing parties.
