Our libraries

We operate six libraries in the Far North. Each one is a destination in its own right - not just for their great collections but for the buildings that house them. We also have a popular mobile library, which regularly travels around the Far North. We support several community libraries with regular book exchanges too.

  • Kāeo Library

    Kaeo Library and Service Centre is located in the historic Post Office building in the heart of Kaeo.
  • Kaikohe Library

    Kaikohe Library is located in the aptly named Library Square, in the heart of the town.
  • Kaitāia Library

    Kaitāia Library is in the stunning Te Ahu building which is also home to our isite visitor centre, Te Ahu Museum, a cafe, and cinema.
  • Kawakawa Library

    Kawakawa Library and Service Centre is now in Te Hononga, in the centre of town.
  • Mobile Library

    The Far North District Council's new library-on-wheels visits communities across the district. Our mobile library invites visitors to come on boar
  • Paihia Library

    The Paihia Library is located in the beautiful Bay of Islands, and serves a population of about 4000 permanent residents.
  • Procter Library

    Procter Library is named for the Procter family’s generous donation that built the library for the town of Kerikeri and its surrounds.
