A full timeline will be available after several key phases involved in setting up the project - including the design and the appointment of contractors - have been completed.
May 2024
- Design brief confirmed
- Design team appointed, draft design process is expected to take five months.
June 2024
- Tenders close for the contract to demolish the buildings on the site where the new library will be located.
July to October 2024
- Contractor appointed for demolition
- Demolition begins (mid July)
- Demolition ends (September)
- Concept design signed off
- Costings plan and full project timeline completed
- Resource consent and building consent process begins.
2025
- Appointment of contractors to complete construction phase.
