VIDEO - Trial planned to transform Taipā wastewater

A working group including hapū, community members and council staff is leading a trial project to transform the way wastewater is treated at Taipā.

A 12-month project at the Taipā Wastewater Treatment Plant will test a process called electrocoagulation, or EC, to establish whether it can more effectively treat wastewater and reduce pollution of local waterways. The EC system was chosen after different options for discharging wastewater were investigated by independent design and engineering consultants BECA.
