Taipā dog attack investigation concludes
The owner of a dog that attacked an 8-year-old girl at Taipā Beach on Wednesday 18 December has surrendered their dog and it has been euthanised.
The Animal Management Team, who were patrolling nearby at the time of the incident, would like to thank the public for their cooperation in locating the owner and capturing the dog. Collaboration with the public and the Animal Management Officers was key to the swift conclusion of this incident. The investigation file has been reviewed and no further enforcement action will be taken.
The incident highlights the importance of owners ensuring their dogs are under control at all times. Every dog owner has a responsibility to ensure that their dog does not pose a threat to any persons or other animals, at home and in public spaces, at all times.
