Outdoor games prize up for grabs in children’s art contest

Budding young artists from around the district will be in to win an outdoor games and activities pack when they enter the ‘My favourite outdoor space art competition’.

Whether it’s a local beach, playground, park, or any outdoor space in the Far North, tamariki are asked to show us their unique vision of a favourite outdoor space. Glitter, shells, paints, pens, or pretty much anything they want, can be used as a creative weapon of choice.

The council is developing an Open Spaces Strategy and wants the next generation to share what’s important to them about outdoor spaces, and how we should all be using them. The strategy will guide the management and protection of community spaces like parks, beaches, playgrounds, and reserves for the future.

If your tamariki want to help create the future Far North they want, this competition is a great place to start! Photos or scans of their entries can be emailed to submissions@fndc.govt.nz. Alternatively, entries can be dropped off at any council library or service centre, or mailed to:

  • Far North District Council, Private Bag 752, Kaikohe 0440. ATTN: Strategy & Policy Team
  • Include your children’s names, ages and contact details on the back of their pictures.

A winner from each category will be selected:

  • Ages 2 to 6
  • Ages 7 to 11
  • Ages 12 to 17

Entries close on 5 August 2024, with the final winners selected on 12 August. Visit here for more information and terms and conditions.

Kia nanakia te whakaaro, kia nanakia te mahi! Get creative and win!
