About this consultation
Consultation closes 10 May 2024
Kerikeri and Waipapa are growing fast. By 2051, more than 22,000 people will call this area home.
We need to act and plan now to manage this growth and protect and enhance what we love and value about the area. Like you, we want Kerikeri and Waipapa to grow in a way that reflects our culture and considers the wellbeing of our people, our local economy, and our environment.
That's why we’re working to develop a blueprint for our shared future – a spatial plan for Kerikeri-Waipapa called Te Pātukurea.
Why are we doing this?
Te Pātukurea will lay the foundation for our future planning, help to identify opportunities for growth as well as where and how we invest resources. It’ll shape what the area will look and feel like, where we can live, work and play, how we get to where we need to go, what infrastructure we need, how we care for our environment and what we can do to tackle climate change.

The vision for Kerikeri and Waipapa
Throughout 2022, we partnered with local hapū and engaged with stakeholders and community groups to understand the key issues facing our district. This helped to identify what our aspirations are and determined our vision for Kerikeri-Waipapa.
