Council marks passing of Mayor Sue James

During Thursday's Far North District Council meeting, a moment’s silence was observed to acknowledge the passing of former Far North Mayor Sue James on Tuesday night.

During Thursday's (4 May) Far North District Council meeting, a moment’s silence was observed to acknowledge the passing of former Far North Mayor Sue James on Tuesday night.

Ms James was the district’s second Mayor following the creation of Far North District Council by the 1989 local government reforms. She was Mayor for two terms from 1992 until 1998.

Following her mayoralty, Ms James was a passionate supporter of the arts and was an active member of the community.
